Position Summary
The Governance & Compliance Officer will act as a first Line of Defense of BIBD Securities and be responsible for ensuring the organization adheres to legal standards and internal/external policies and investment compliance for BIBDS initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring, documenting and preparation of compliance/assurance requirements/reports to management, internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements & Experience
- Must be a citizen or Permanent Resident of Brunei Darussalam.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Proven experience in understanding regulatory requirements.
- Strong understanding of regulatory, audit and compliance frameworks would be preferred.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure legal and regulatory compliance, monitor legislative changes, and prepare necessary compliance reports.
- Draft, review, and update company policies to meet regulatory requirements and conduct regular compliance policy reviews.
- Identify, assess, and manage compliance with internal and external policies and investigate issues with corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to good corporate governance practices, support the development of governance frameworks, and advise senior management and the board on governance issues.
- Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory authorities and auditors.
