Senior Operational Risk & Shariah Risk Management Officer - Risk Management Division

Position Summary

Support the implementation of Operational Risk Management Framework, in alignment with Shariah Governance Framework.

Requirements & Experience

  • Must be a Citizen or Permanent Residence of Brunei Darussalam.
  • Degree Holder in Islamic Finance, Shariah Law, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of banking experience.
  • Proficiency in English & Malay (knowledge of Arabic is an added advantage).
  • Strong understanding of Shariah principles, Islamic finance products, and regulations.
  • Strong understanding of operational risks including shariah risks in banking operations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the identification of material and emerging shariah non-compliance risks and other operational risks in the bank.
  • Strengthen risk and control assessment exercises to enhance the resilience of operational and shariah risk management.
  • Participate and challenge the 1st LOD during assessment exercise, helping to measure potential risk exposure and recommend actions for risk mitigation.
  • Support in monitoring risk appetite limits and other risk reports to ensure breaches are promptly escalated to the ERMC, Shariah Advisory Body (SAB), and relevant Board Committees.
  • Promptly highlight concerns that may lead to material shariah non-compliance risks.
  • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and promote a risk awareness culture.
