BIBD ALAF Scholar Siti Nurul Izzah Adila Embarks on a Promising Future with Monash University

The BIBD Advocating Lifelong Learning for a Sustainable Future program (BIBD ALAF) once again marks a significant milestone with the signing of a BIBD ALAF scholarship for Siti Nurul Izzah Adila. As a recipient of the prestigious BIBD ALAF Scholars Award, Nurul will pursue a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) at Monash University, Australia, one of the top 50 universities worldwide.

Present at the signing ceremony held at BIBD Headquarters in Bandar Seri Begawan was BIBD’s Managing Director and CEO, Awang Junaidi bin Haji Masri along with BIBD Management and staff.

This occasion marks more than just a scholarship award; it is a testament to BIBD’s enduring commitment to the educational empowerment of Brunei’s younger generation. Through comprehensive support mechanisms including financial aid, mentorship, and specialised training, BIBD ALAF seeks to level the playing field for underprivileged students. These efforts are in direct support of Brunei Vision 2035, which promotes inclusivity that envisions a future where the nation’s youth lead in various sectors, including healthcare, thus contributing to the nation’s prosperity.

Moreover, this scholarship embodies BIBD’s dedication to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG), particularly Goal 4, which advocates for inclusive and equitable quality education for all. By investing in the education of its youth, BIBD is not only facilitating personal growth and development but is also laying the groundwork for sustainable national development, aligned with the broader objectives of the UN SDGs.

Nurul’s journey with the ALAF program, which began in 2014, exemplifies the transformative potential of sustained educational support. Her academic achievements and aspirations in medical research illustrate the program’s success in inspiring students to set ambitious goals and contribute positively to society. Nurul’s future endeavors in the healthcare sector are eagerly anticipated, as they represent the tangible benefits of investment in education and the promise of a brighter future for Brunei.

As BIBD congratulates Nurul on her remarkable achievements, it also reaffirms its commitment to the continuous support of Brunei’s youth. Through initiatives like the BIBD ALAF program, the bank remains dedicated to nurturing the next generation of leaders, innovators, and contributors to the nation’s well-being and progress towards achieving Brunei Vision 2035 and the broader global agenda for sustainable development.

Siti Nurul Izzah Adila left for Australia on 9 February 2024 to begin her studies.
