BIBD Completes 660 Trees Project in Temburong District

Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) marked the culmination of its 660 Roots to a Greener Future with a tree planting ceremony in the Temburong district, as part of the Projek Alam Mampan initiative. This milestone in BIBD’s sustainability journey saw 30 new trees planted in Temburong as BIBD continues its pledge to contribute towards a greener and more sustainable Brunei Darussalam.

The event was attended by the Temburong District Officer, along with BIBD management, staff, volunteers, and community members, all joining hands in a shared commitment to environmental stewardship.

Launched in May with an inaugural planting of 40 trees at Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas, the 660 Roots to a Greener Future initiative is designed to plant 660 trees across Brunei by the end of the year. The project falls under BIBD’s Sustainability Framework, which integrates environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into the bank’s operations, underscoring its dedication to being a responsible corporate citizen.

This initiative directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a specific focus on SDG 15: Life on Land, by promoting the protection, restoration, and sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems and natural resources. BIBD’s Sustainability Framework reaffirms the bank’s ongoing commitment to Brunei’s long-term economic, social, and environmental objectives, recognising the critical role that corporate entities play in promoting sustainability.

BIBD remains steadfast in adopting sustainable practices in all areas of its business, with Projek Alam Mampan as a key initiative, reflecting the bank’s mission to contribute positively to Brunei Vision 2035. As the 660 Trees Project draws to a close, BIBD celebrates this achievement as part of its broader ambition to inspire environmental responsibility. BIBD is committed to driving further progress in environmental conservation, contributing to the nation’s collective journey towards a more sustainable future and encouraging Bruneians to join hands in building a legacy of green stewardship for generations to come.
