Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) yesterday took part in a tree-planting activity in further demonstrating its commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement.
The initiative, held at the Stadium Negara Hassanal Bolkiah, coincided with the celebration of the Brunei Girl Guides Association or Persatuan Pandu Puteri Brunei Darussalam (PPPBD) 70th anniversary.
A total of 70 trees, carefully selected for their adaptability to the local ecosystem, were planted in strategic locations, contributing not only to the beautification of public spaces at the stadium, but also to the overall enhancement of Brunei’s environmental landscape.
Taking part in the event were members of the BIBD senior management team as well as staff and personnel of the bank.
As BIBD recognises the crucial role that sustainable practices play in fostering a healthier and greener future, the tree-planting event fittingly mirrored this commitment and underscored the bank’s dedication to being a responsible corporate citizen that upholds the principles of Maqasid Shariah.
The initiative also aligns with global efforts to address climate change under the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal No.13 (Climate Change) and Goal No.15 (Life on Land).
The collaboration with PPPBD showcased BIBD’s emphasis on empowering future generations to take an active role in environmental preservation and commitment to creating a positive impact beyond financial services – in line with the BIBD Sustainability Framework.
