BIBD Supports Business Growth And Innovation Through Chinese Chamber Of Commerce Business Forum

Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) demonstrated its ongoing commitment to fostering collaboration, digital transformation, and international trade as one of the key sponsors of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce’s Business Forum. The forum, themed “Succeeding in a Small Economy”, served as a critical platform for business leaders and stakeholders to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing Brunei’s economy. The keynote address by Dato Timothy Ong, Chairman of Asia Inc Forum, provided valuable insights into how small economies can leverage strategic partnerships and innovation to thrive.

BIBD was represented by Andy Lim, Head of Corporate Relationship Management, on the Prospering Together panel. During the discussion, Andy highlighted how BIBD is helping to drive business growth in Brunei through digital innovation, through the Group’s digital roadmap under OLIVE, a next-generation digital banking platform. He also pointed to services like Biznet, which make managing finances more efficient, as examples of how BIBD supports companies in adapting to a digital economy.

Andy also spoke about BIBD’s role as a trusted partner for businesses aiming to achieve long-term success, offering not just financial products but value-added services like advisory programmes and mentorship. An example is the SME360 Series, a virtual series of talks which helped local businesses navigate the challenges of the post-pandemic era, as an example of the bank’s commitment to providing practical support.

Additionally, he shared insights on how BIBD helps local businesses expand internationally by leveraging its strong networks and the global Islamic economic landscape. He highlighted how businesses looking to access overseas markets, specifically in halal industries or Muslim countries, could make use of BIBD’s expertise and experience in these areas.

As Brunei’s largest Islamic bank, BIBD is proud to support initiatives that align with its values of Bruneian at Heart and its commitment to inclusive, and sustainable business practices. Through its wide range of corporate services tailored to businesses both large and small, BIBD continues to play a pivotal role in nurturing a dynamic and resilient economy by fostering and facilitating the growth of local businesses.

The forum further underscored BIBD’s vision for a digitally empowered business ecosystem. The bank’s investments in digital transformation, through the BIBD BizNet suite of services, have already empowered countless businesses to streamline operations, enhance customer engagement, and expand their reach. BIBD is equally focused on fostering partnerships across industries and borders, helping Brunei’s businesses tap into global networks and drive forward the Sultanate’s economic diversification.

Moving forward, BIBD remains committed to championing Brunei’s business community, offering the tools and partnerships necessary for businesses to succeed in a rapidly changing economic landscape. The bank encourages businesses to explore its range of financial solutions and looks forward to continued collaboration in building a prosperous future for Brunei.
