BIBD participated in a river cleanup campaign, “Komuniti Industri Kewangan: H2O HEROES,” held at Sungai Brunei, Kampong Ayer, organised by the Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) and Green Brunei. This initiative aligns with World Environment Day, underscoring the commitment of the financial sector to environmental sustainability.
The campaign aimed to engage industry leaders in direct environmental action, focusing on the challenges and preservation of the natural beauty of Kampong Ayer. Through this participation, BIBD reaffirms its dedication under the BIBD Sustainability Framework, demonstrating active involvement in projects that support the community and environmental conservation.
A number of BIBD employees joined the initiative, demonstrating BIBD’s values of upholding the Maqasid Shariah and remaining ‘Bruneian at Heart’. This participation not only reinforces BIBD’s commitment to community engagement and environmental stewardship but also mirrors the Bank’s dedication to sustainability.
“BIBD is privileged to support BDCB’s ‘H2O HEROES’ initiative, which plays a crucial role in uniting the financial sector towards a common goal of environmental preservation,” said BIBD’s Head of Government Relations and Special Projects, Haji Mohammad Yusri bin Haji Wahsalfelah. “We are working closely with our regulator to instill good values of cleanliness and environmental sustainability amongst participants. Together, it is hoped that we can make a substantial impact on the environmental health of our community and advance towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in Brunei.”
