BIBD supports Hengyi Industries’ 7th Reforestation Project

Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) today sponsored 200 trees in support of the 7th Reforestation Project organised by Hengyi Industries. This collaboration aligns with BIBD’s Sustainability Framework, as evidenced by the bank’s enduring commitment to Brunei Darussalam’s endorsement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals and its alignment with Brunei Darussalam’s National Climate Change Policy as well as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).

The 7th Reforestation Project was attended by the Minister Of Development, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda Bin Haji Abdul Rashid. Also present was the Deputy Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office, Awang Haji Mohammad Azmi bin Haji Mohd Hanifah. BIBD’s Managing Director and CEO, Awang Junaidi bin Haji Masri was also in attendance, along with BIBD’s senior management and staff.

BIBD’s involvement in Hengyi Industries’ reforestation project is a testament to the bank’s dedication to environmental stewardship and commitment to contributing positively to the country’s ecological preservation. These efforts underscore the bank’s dedication to act as a responsible business and support other organisations in their pursuit of sustainable goals.

BIBD is supporting Hengyi Industries’ 7th Reforestation Project through 200 sponsored trees, marking another milestone in BIBD’s series of green initiatives. Through such collaborative efforts, BIBD aims to foster a culture of sustainability and encourage other sectors to take actionable steps towards a greener Brunei.

BIBD hopes that this partnership reflects BIBD’s strategic approach to sustainability and amplifies the importance of collective action to make an impact on the environment. This support is part of a broader commitment to the country’s sustainability agenda through the Memorandum of Understanding signed between BIBD and the Brunei National Council on Climate Change, which aligns with national efforts under Protokol Hijau. The initiative focuses on reforestation and environmental preservation, reinforcing BIBD’s strategic approach to support sustainable and eco-friendly projects across Brunei Darussalam. Through such partnerships, BIBD is dedicated to promoting environmental stewardship as a cornerstone of its Sustainability Framework.

The Bank remains committed to continuing its support for sustainability projects that contribute to environmental conservation and the wellbeing of future generations in Brunei Darussalam. (Mention the MOU with BNCCC where we outlines our commitment to the country’s sustanability agenda)
