Supporting Environmental Sustainability through Mission Green Initiative

Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) participated in the recent tree planting initiative, Mission Green Possible, organised by the Ministry of Health. The event, aimed at promoting environmental sustainability, witnessed active involvement from more than 50 BIBD staff members who contributed to the tree planting ceremony.
“As the biggest financial institution in Brunei and a responsible corporate citizen, BIBD recognises the urgency of addressing environmental challenges. Our participation in Mission Green Possible is a testament to our commitment to creating a sustainable future for generations to come. We believe that every tree planted is a step closer to a greener and healthier environment,” said Hjh Nurul Akmar binti Hj Mohd Jaafar, Chief Marketing Officer at BIBD.
As a dedicated supporter of environmental causes, BIBD sponsored several trees as part of its commitment to fostering a greener and more sustainable future. The Guest of Honour for the event was the Minister of Health, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohd Isham bin Hj Jaafar. Also present was BIBD’s Managing Director and CEO, Awang Junaidi bin Hj Masri.
In alignment with the BIBD Group’s Sustainability Framework, particularly under the pillar of environmental protection, BIBD continues to play an active part in initiatives that contribute to a greener, healthier environment. This latest initiative supports the Green Protocol under the Brunei Darussalam National Climate Change Policy, further solidifying BIBD’s dedication to supporting eco-friendly practices.
To enhance awareness and actively contribute to reducing environmental impact, attendees were encouraged to bring their reusable tumblers and water bottles, reinforcing the importance of individual responsibility in environmental conservation.
This initiative is just one of many instances where BIBD has championed environmental causes. The bank remains steadfast in its commitment to sustainable practices and will continue to spearhead and support initiatives that align with its core values and the global push for environmental stewardship.
